 | How to use iTunes & mototunes without using any PC software |
Note: in YuetMod v1.6, iTunes comes with a "iTunes DB creator" function, so mototunes is no longer required. The new procedure for using iTunes in v1.6 is at [iTune in v1.6].
After flash to YuetMod (v1.1 to v1.5), your V360 handphone will have the following java applications:
1. iTunes
2. mototunes (Mobile mototunes)
You can get the latest mototunes from [mototunes].
Usage:
(Prepare iTunes playlists database.)
1. use USB/bluetooth to transfer MP3 files to "Audio" folder in TF card of your handphone.
2. start java application "mototunes".
3. select "Build iTunes database", and wait for the process to complete, then reboot your handphone.
4. to start iTunes, press MENU key then 5 key. (or select 5.iTunes in shortcuts menu).
iTunes is very easy to use, so I think I don't need to explain how to use it.

Can I upload WMA files as well? Also is there a limit of kb songs you can listen with itune? 128kb 192kb 320kb?

If I am not wrong, WMA is not supported by iTunes. the highest bit rate should be 192kb.

I tested with all the media players installed in the phone and found out only MP3 with upto 160Kb birate songs can be played on the phone.

glauber, so far I know only one way to achieve this. If you have a e398/rokr/L7 that works with iTunes on PC/mac. You can actually copy the iTunes database files, that created using those phones, to your V360. The artworks will be there. I know it is tricky, but I don't know any other way at this moment.

Hi! I can't seem to get iTunes to work. I've followed instructions, but when i open iTunes nothing is listed. However, when I open Digital Audio Player all the files are there. Not sure what's going wrong. Please advise.
Hey I installed your MP on my brand new v360. I am really impressed. I am loving itunes on my phone. My wife is getting on to me for playing with my phone so much lol. Anyway, one thing that is troubling me is that although I can get Itunes working from the shortcut menu. When I scroll to shortcut-5 with the phone closed and click on Itunes. Nothing happens. I am not sure if this is how it is supposed to be or if something is actually not working.

You need to install Mototunes on your pc and crate a playlist with it. Then upload it to your phone. All the options you need are in the far left corner of Mototunes. Restart phone after uploading playlist.

JAWheat411, iTunes won't start with flip closed. Instead, you can use the sound player.

Was afraid of that. I think I like using itunes better anyway lol. I think it is just the thrill of it. BTW how to I go back out of apps or subdirectories after going into it with the cover closed (such as calls or Phonebook. Right now I have to open the lid and exit. Can I map the voice key or something. And if so are there any side effects. Thanks

Hi, yes, I was sure to restart the phone after building the database. Still no songs/playlists, etc. available in itunes. Dunno. Nothing is happening in iTunes, but I know the audio is there.

brettstar, one more thing to check. are your songs in phone memory or TF card? iTunes only play songs in TF card.

Yes, I made sure to upload the tunes to the "Pictures" folder on the TF card. I've reformatted and reloaded a couple times with no success. BTW, why is it that they should go into the "Pictures" and not the "Audio" folder? After reloading, rebuilding, rebooting the iTunes "About" Menu still reads "Songs 0/1000"

Yuet, yes now I'm starting to get somewhere with iTunes. However, the folder hierarchy is still a bit confusing. With your mobile iTunes having options for 'Playlists', 'Artists', 'Albums', and 'Songs', it seems logical that you would pull a whole artist folder into the 'Audio' folder of the TF card.
Say I pull The Beatles folder onto the TF card. In that folder are the albums, say Revolver and Let It Be. I rebuild, restart and open iTunes and...there's nothing listed anywhere in iTunes. OK, then I pull the Revolver folder out of The Beatles folder and directly into the TF Audio folder. Rebuild, restart and now I see Revolver as a Playlist option, but no organization by Artist or Album. Often I see a blank white rectangle where the artist or album would normally be. I'm not sure what's missing here. Please advise when possible.
brettstar, the album/aritists in iTunes is based on the info in the MP3 files, not the folders in "audio". Also please note that the mototunes is a freeware and it is not perfect. :)
in v1.6, you won't need to restart the phone after rebuilding DB.
Yuet, can I ask you what headphones do you have? I want to buy headphones for my v360 and I have found only motorola S200 (they come out on may 2006) and they have mini-usb connection. Some net shops report that they are compatible with v360, other don't list v360 but only L7... Have you got some information on this?
I use a headset with silver & white color. the only brand I see on it is "EP TECH". not sure about the model number. It is a free gift in the package when I bought my v360 in Hong Kong. It is good in my opinion.
everytime i choose mototunes it says "storage device no longer available" whats the problem???
mike, do you have TF card? iTunes only play files in TF card. and make sure you don't connect to your phone to computer. maybe restarting the phone will help.

Yuet, I'm still having major problems with the new vassio iTunes in the new 1.6 MP. It doesn't even seem to read mp4 (aac) files. I'm aware that iTunes reads ID3 tags to organise, but I'm wondering if there is a way to organise artist/album folders in the TF audio folder. Or do you have all songs directly into the audio folder, with no artist and album name subfolders?
At the moment, when I choose 'iTunesDB Creator' I get a dialogue box with a black box as the title and two black boxes with a question mark. When I press 'Yes' the database creator stays at 0% forever. Is there a way to get support directly ffrom Vassio? Thanks for your help...

Is there a way to play mp3s with more then 192kb br on the V360? Now i have to convert all my mp3s before uploading them to the phone. It's very annoying.

If i flash with the Yuet mod on my unlocked L7 will i have itunes icons in the menu cause i have added itunes on my unlocked l7 and the only way to access it is menu+5. So when flashing the yuet mod will i have itunes icons now?
No, you will still access it via shortcuts.
Yuet, i have seen that using mediamonkey with a modified dll I could update db and add artworks to my songs in itunes. Have you tested it?
