I've recently replaced my old motorola v51 with brand new v360. I can see that your mod makes this phone even better. But I miss one thing. v51 is able to record a phone call. It's great feature, when you can't find a pen. ;) Is it possible to include this funcionality in v360?

Adnan, I recommend v1.8. First check you bootloader version. If it is 08.A0 or 08.D0, it is fine to flash to v1.8.

According to the sticker under the battery, it was 08.B7.86R
I "accidently" flashed it with one of the .AER firmwares and now I can't get it to flash with anything else... I will have to try to p2k easy tool, but I would still like to get back to my original firmware SO I CAN BACK IT UP before trying anything else!

jedavis, the 86R firmware can be downloaded here. Be warned this firmware has SIM lock, so don't flash it is your phone is unlocked.
Thanks Yuet, I am kinda new to all this flashing stuff. Could you explain a little bit more about what you mean by "SIM lock"? I haven't unlocked my phone, As far as I know it is locked to a local carrier "Centennial Wireless" and I don't really care if it locked or unlocked at this point... I just want my phone back. Are you saying that this firmware will lock it to a different carrier? Again great job with all this great moto hacking and the help.
That's what sim lock means. your phone is locked to a carrier, so only can use the sim from that carrier. If your phone is already locked, there's no risk. it won't lock to other carrier.
As you have flashed to AER, you won't be able to flash back to 86R. you have to do the testpoint & repair pds to get rid of the AER. However, if you only want to make your phone working again, you can try to flash to my AER MP.

hi i flash my v360 with mp yuet 1.8(very good,i like it).and in few hours my phone bigin to restart.white image apeares and restarts.
i forgot to tell you that i removed some images and some sound from the v360.now i instaled the same mp yuet 1.8,soo let's see if works fine.in a few hours no eroor:D sorry my bad gramatical errors.
ubandit, if you use flip-close operation, remember to always return to home screen before open the flip, otherwise phone may reboots. read this post for detail.

Regarding the phone freezes when open pictures, is it consistent? happen to all pictures? if both yes, try reflash the MP.
Hello Yuet. My fone has a small problem now. The other day I deleted the ringtones that I don't need. The fone was fine after restarting. But after I used the Master Reset setting in my fone, there're empty spaces appeared in the Ringtones list. How can I fix it?????
I don't quite understand what your problem is. Seems that the master reset has disabled some tones. BTW, I don't see there's any reason to do master reset.

Yuet! Your MP almost bricked my phone... while using RSDLite with all prerequisites met (full battery, verified usb port/cable, etc...) it stopped with a critical error 84. I tried again and this time the error was "Code Corrupt".
Ok, now the solution: i used shxcodec to REPLACE your ramloader with the one flashbackup 3 has... the 08.A0.ldr file, renamed to smg (my phone is 08.A0); recompiled and it worked... just posting for anyone who has the same issue.
TIA, the v1.x V360 MP should work with V360 with 08.A0 bootloader. My V360 is also 08.A0, it is already tested with my phone.
It is the first time a 08.A0 phone reported such problem. Can you send me your flasherrorlog file?

you have to add those icons if they don't come with the skin. There's no shorter way. BTW, what icons are missing?
Hi Yuet, I have been noticing that on my v360 with the new MODv1.8, I get lower reception. Sometimes it goe crazy meaning it does not have reception at all and sometimes it does in the same place. Do you know what it can be? Oh and I did not have this problem with the other versions. I may add that I have T-Mobile.
In network setup, try to select your own network band instead of automatic. and try to change speed to fast. Also you can try to flash the mp again to see if it helps.

fourqui, yes, you can use custom system sounds in v2.0. read this post. but not including flip close/open. so far only MV can play flip close/open sounds.

But there's some settings I'd like to change. How can I do it?
-I'd like to get back the default v360 icons (battery, signal, and all other menu icons...) I tried putting back the DRM from the first firmware, the same way described in your DRM tutorial, but I get a JUMP error when I try to flash. (The phone still works fine, it doesn't look to be affected.)
-How can I disable iTunes from starting automaticly when I power up my phone?
-How can I make the keys the same way they did before? (The one at the sides of the phone that I can use the the cover is closed.)

kurai, 1. flash a stock moto drm, and upload original moto skin files. 2. you can disable iTunes autostart in iTunes setting. 3. upload the original 005b-0001 seem, which can be found in the v1.8 post.

I'm using v1.3 on a V360 and I was wondering what the "E" symbol at the top left hand of the screen means ? I can't find a reference to it online.
I think that "E" symbol means that you can connect to an available EDGE network:
"Icon #4 - "Script 'E' with Green and Red Slashes Below" means high-speed EDGE data is available. You will only see this if you have an EDGE-enabled phone and you're running a very recent firmware revision."

Hi Yuet, i'm the guy who asked you about disabling itunes autostart. The thing is that i could acces all itunes options (like itunes DB creator) only when the phone language is set to ENGLISH. But my native language is SPANISH, so when i've spanish selected, i only see a few itunes options and i can't use it.
To solve my problem i'll have to download a spanish itunes version?

it is true that you only see those menu items when using English language. you can switch to English only when you need to use those items. It is because such items are not available in those non-English language resource db.

It is because no firmware supports this feature yet. I think one workaround is to use java app to move the sms to the card.

Yuet, I had a Cingular L7 (with iTunes) destroyed in a car accident. Cingular wanted me to pay over $300 to buy a new one. They're crazy! I bough an unlocked one from an eBay vendor in CA for $130 and it has the BL 08.D0 with S/W R4513_G_08.B7.DER_RB. I've not seen any other post with that software number in your blogs so I am confused about my options. I would like to get it back to the configuration that Cingular had. I don't even mind locking it again as I will probably stay with that carrier for several more years. Is there any way to get my BL back to 0A.20 and get the Cingular FLEX? Do you think Cingular would be able to do it with my replacement phone?
ace, cingular L7 has 0A.20 & R4517, while other L7 has 08.D0 & R4513. They are not compatible, so I don't think you can convert your phone to R4517. and I doubt Cingular can do it unless they change the mainboard for you. BTW, we can also get iTunes on R4513.

Yuet, How do I know if my firmware is compatible with iTunes? The FLEX on the phone is GSTROYLDSMSPLA135 and S/W is R4513_G_08.B7.DER_RB. Does that help me figure out which way to go? I would like the simplest process as I want to minimize my risk of making a paperweight out of it.
ace, I can't tell from the flex number. normally retail firmware will support iTunes, while those branded ones won't. One way to test it is to install PhoneManager using MotoMidman, to see if phonemanager can access the file system. If yes, it should support iTunes. you can get phone manager here, and motomidman here.

Okay, I went with your first suggestion and used the Moto Midlet Manager to install your YuetModiTunes. It seemed to go okay excet now I can't find the application. It doesn't show up in with the Games & Apps on the phone menu. It does show up in the Moto Midlet Manager list of apps. What should I do now?
please follow the instruction here to create the shortcut for iTunes, then you can launch iTunes via the shortcut.

I see on the link where it tells me 3 steps; create a shortcut, upload the seem, and press menu + 1 to launch iTunes. I have no idea how to create a shortcut. ace, about uploading a seem file, read this post. To create shortcut, go to main menu, then press and hold the Menu key. You don't press Menu & 1 at same time, but Menu quickly follows by "1". An easiser way is go to Shortcuts menu and select the 1st shortcut.
iTunes on V360 won't work with iTunes on your desktop. Instead, you should copy your mp3 files to your tf card first, then use the "iTunes DB creator" function to create playlist. Details are already in this post. you should read everything in that post.

1) in "home key" setup, set "smart key" to launch "shortcuts". In shortcuts menu, move "iTunes" to the 1st shortcuts. After that, you can launch iTunes by pressing the internet key 2 times.
2) lower the volume during call, or adjust the gaintable to suit your phone. more info here.

paolo, flashing will give you better firmware, some new features (such as ringtons from tf card), optimised skins/settings, etc.
bad thing is you will void the warranty.
you can use flashbackup 3 to make a backup of your existing software, so you can restore it later. backup v360 with flashbackup.
except that my un modified firware already allows me to use ringtones from my tflash card.
paolo, if you are happy with your current firmware, I don't see any reason to flash it.

Aditya, E0R is one of the sticky firmwares. You have to get rid of it before you can flash to other versions of firmware, or you must flash back to E0R to get a working phone. 2 methods to remove E0R. method 1, method 2.

dave, my MPs are not tested on 08.A2 yet. the odd is 50/50. Please test it if you have a working backup of your exisitng firmware.

I flashing your MP 1.8 in my L7, it's great, but why my L7 is identity as V360 and keypad lamp is abnormal, sometimes on sometimes off.
why flight mode not include in M1.8?
only the one who set the password would know it. regarding phone model showing V360, please read last paragraph of this post. For keypad lamp abnormal, I am not sure as nobody reported this problem before. You might want to try flashing again. Airplane mode doesn't come with the ABR firmware. :)

mabar, in my MP, you can switch to phone memory or card directly, instead of select "switch storage device".

Yuet, I tried to flash a SLVR L7 Bootloader Version 08.D0
and it just died. It only turns on in transfer mode and when I try to flash another MP it just goes into error. I need to save this phone because its not mine. Can u help me?

using RSD Lite
it gave me an error 84 and another one I cant remember and but it was 2 numbers like 80/40 or something like that. It gave me critical error too.
The phone was just fine at first but I couldnt get the iTunes to work, when I checked the bootloader version it was like my phone so I decided to flash your MP(its awsome). It seemed just fine until it said to power the phone manually. Now it just flashes the keypad when I try to power it on and it goes off again. I can only power it up in transfer mode and I cant get any MP to work. About the logs:

William, your firmware is AER, which is the sticky firmware. you can only flash to a AER MP only.
erikdell, have u tried to flash the MP again? I am not sure what went wrong. The MP is working fine on my V360.
Yuet, I'd love to flash the 3.1 mp, but I still want to keep my ringtones on my tf, and grant full permission to java apps. Anyway you can make an update to it just for those near and dear to my heart features? Other than that, I'd be sold on it.

MP 1.8 Even when I use motorola software update I get a critical error after about 15 sec. Can you please tell me how to apply mp3's on memory card as ringtones
Friend of mine has the afr software and there's an option to apply as ringtone when he accesses his memory card. Is there a way I can also do this

did you download the correct version for 08.A2? have you tried to flash using RSDLite? Maybe there's the new function in afr. If you can get a backup of it, maybe we can figure it out.
v3.x doesnt have the feature that lets you use your songs on the mem stick as a ringtone?

don't think it is possible, but I think we can find a way to store more SMS in phone memory.
Is the v. 3.x firmware ready for the L7 yet? I'm using 1.8 right now and love it.
soon I will upgrade v3.1, the L7 version will be after the upgrade.
I noticed that the v1.8 firmware thats compatible with the SLVR L7 makes itunes 7..regcognize the L7 as a motorola V360 driver thus not supporting the itunes sync.
The 3.1 monsterpack has several bugs . One I cant live with is , you cant setup apn under internet setup. I can only write numbers . no option to change to abc . Meaning I can only use providers which are all ready there . How smart is that !!!! useless.
The 1.8 wont load .
When I flash the old firmware back , there still a lot left on the mobilephone from yuetmod .
Hello Yuet, how would I go about modding my V360 just a little bit. I mean, the MPs sound nice, but they sound like more then I need or want. A few things I'm interested in are the unlimited video, TF card picture set as phonebook image, and the different picture preview mode skins. Can this be done without flashing... by seem editing maybe?

Just flashed to the newer v2.2 using RSD 2.7. I had flashed to V2.1 in november and everything was working fine then... now i get no service. I have T-mobile. Also, when i start up the phone automatically goes to itunes and then kind of hangs a bit. I am running

the problem should only happen with bluetooth headset. I don't have this problem with wired headset. It plays my ringtone when wired headset it connected.

Steeveee, what's the point? It doesn't make sense to me.
I believe it does make some sense to hear the ring in the headphones, especially when out in the city in a crowded or noisy place... the speaker ring or the vibe doesn't really help much then... It's true that if you listen to music you realize that someone's calling you if the music pauses.... Other phone makers like SE have this option... So I guess the solution is to let the music play :D

Yuet, please explain: For the 1.x MP it says: "Firmware r4513_g_08.b7.abr or acr (retail versions)". So is it abr or acr? I've heard that acr is a little faster than abr. So if i flash to 1.8 which firmware would that install? I have a v360 with bl 09.02 and .abr firmware.

steevee, ABR is used in V360 MP, while ACR is in L7 MP. ABR is faster than ACR if I am not wrong.

Yuet i have found many versions of RSDlite 1.6 23 2.4 2.5 2.6 2.8 3.2 3.3 3.4 but theres motorola RSDlite and only RSDlite, can u tell me wats the difference? Can u also suggest the version? or tell me what version u use?
1.6 is too old. you can use any version from 2.4 and above. I am using 2.5. When the version is working with your phone, don't upgrade. Newer doesn't mean better.

Hey there! I have a small question:
I have an old v360, probably one of the first that appeared on market. I had also a 512MB card with it. Now, I bought a 1GB card. I won't believe what I discovered (probably some people have already discovered this), after a bit of small testing:
- my phone sees the card as 1GB of memory;
- I can access it through phone, like: take pictures, listen music from card, a.s.o.;
- when connecting as USB it is recognized by WinXP but it can't be browsed;
The ANSWER:
- Intel Based USB Hub Chipset won't recognize
- AMD Based Chipset will recognize it
So, I'm not joking folks! Sad for me, but true for the fans! Anyway, before buying a 1GB card please test it, and then purchase it!

Ivan, congras! It's strange if it restarts when you connect usb. you can try to reflash, or reinstall motorola driver. Do you have any p2k software running when you connect your phone? is it in "memory card" mode or data mode?

This is the first time that I have flashed a phone, your clear instructions made it possible. I have an L7 SLVR and want desperately to improve the reception. I live in a far corner of Panama and have very limited reception where I live. Only on one area outside my house. Can the 3.x MP for L7 be used on the SLVR? Do you have plans to improve the reception of the SLVR?

no, I don't have IM profile file for MSN. You can try to delete away all the icq/yahoo/aim profiles, then set up a MSN account in IM.

ringtones from tf is in v1.8. this function is not supported in the v3.2 firmware.

i need to get my net back and for some reason its saying messages full yet i have none. I cant play mp3's i can only hold 3 mp3's at a max of 3 mb a piece at 192 kbs yet i have a 1 gig stick.

I have an L7 with MP 3.2. When I open the phone book I shows it to me in hte order that the entries were entered into the phone book and when I enter, let's say, and M goto Mauro's entry nothing happens. It is very hard to go to an entry by name. I am I doing something not correctly??

here is my problem (hope you can help me out)..
everytime you add a new contact, in the email field, it wont let me write down (enter) characters or symbols, only numbers.. how can i change this, it doesnt give me the option to change the Entry Mode..
Do i have to do a seem edit for that?

I installed your MP 3.2 on my v360v and also unlock it from SP(according your instructions), and it works quite good...(well I got some problems during the procedure , but in the end everything went well ;-) ))
Until now the software looks very stable , but, if ok with you, I would like to "complain" ;-) about some bugs(or not) found by me, in order to help you in your improvements.
1-Voice recognizer do not work , when i try to save my voice the button does not respond !!??( I don't use it anyway , just to report :-) )
2-I use a lot call forwarding, and I could not identify witch call (that i am receiving) came from direct call or forwarding call ( I realy don´t know if this is a Motorola limitation or a software improvement, because in my last phone (Siemens) a arrow before the number tell me that the call provides from the call forwarding)
I hope you can solve this , because I use it a lot:-).
3-the itunes just never starts when i press the icon, only starts when the phone is restarted.
4-One important feature that I like from motorola phones is not present in this software, when you reveice a sms or a not answered call the phone beeps every 5 minutes ( I really don´t know if it worked on original v360, at least on v525 worked).

hey yuet! do u kno frm where i can get indian version stock mp for my L7? i flashed into ur 3.2 mp nd later my comp crashed nd had 2 reinstal nd stuff. so lost te stock mp tat i had backed up. won b able 2 claim any warranty if no stock mp. no 1 else i kno has a L7 either. so please help.

Ramesh, sorry I don't have it.
Carlos, 1. if you need to record voice names, you just need to set the Camera key to Voice key. you can change it by opcodes. 2. do u have this problem with the stock moto firmware? 3. Please read the description of v3.2 again to understand this problem. 4. If I am not wrong, this feature is in the MP. If you don't set volume of system sounds to 0, it should beep until you attend to it.

I'd like to know just what mods are reasonable to expect? There are a few things that I miss from my previous phone, and would like to know if they can be implemented on the V360. Some are:
1) Proper "address book" support (meaning, 1 entry that supports all the standard VCF entries of name, office number, home number, fax, email, homepage, etc), instead of having multiple "phone book" entries,
2) Redial until successful. On my Siemens, if a number was busy, I could select "redial", and the phone would redial every 30 seconds until it got through.
I am a C++ & Java developer myself, so would be happy to contribute, if someone could tell me what is needed.

2-No, I never used my motorola when it was locked to Vod., so I really cannot say that it was like that before. I already made some tests and it seems that when the shell is open I can see on the screen that the call is from a forwarded call, but when is closed I cannot tell(there is no diference between calls types)and when I open it it automatically answer (is there any way to set the answers option not to answer when opening the flip?)
3- I will read it.
4-Problem solved,was my fault, is working.

kev, 1) not quite possible. 2) there should be an option in "Auto redial" in "initial setup", set it on, then it should redial automatically. (if you can't find the option, there is a SEEM edit for it. check my seem handbook.
C++/java programming is not quite useful in modding. We normally deal with hex editor and bits & bytes. If you know how to decompile the binary to assembly and code in assembly, it will be useful.

Anyways.. i like your MP 2.2.. and i applied some patches to have the blacklist enable, also the night mode and others.. anyways..

I guess your mods are more along the lines of configuration changes, skins, ringtones and other cosmetic effects.
To REALLY have fun one would need access to the development kit used to write the firmware.
Naturally, this would probably immediately render the phone incompatible with most existing middleware and other tools!
The "redial" option I have access to only tries once.
