 | How To Install dual Corelets MediaViewer and iTunes |
What you need:
1. two corelets which can unload itself. (MV and iTunes)
2. MotoMidMan
UPDATE 21 Dec 2006: Steps updated, and tested by Yuet. Package updated with iTunes modded by bullfrog.
Steps
1. create one shortcut in the shortcuts menu.
2. download the 0002_0001.seem file and upload it to your phone. (Read my SEEM Edit guide if not sure how to upload the seem.) Restart your phone and rename the shortcut from "iTunes" to "Start Corelet".
3. install MediaViewer using MotoMidMan. Set its type to "Background" only.
4. Install iTunes and set its type to "Background" only.
5. restart your phone. Go to "Games & Apps" and set the shortcuts for these two apps. (to create shortcuts, select the midlet then press Menu key and hold.) Let say you create shortcut #2 for iTunes, and shortcut #3 for MediaViewer. Name the iTunes shortcut as "Load iTunes", the MV shortcut "Load MV".
6. use MotoMidMan to set both the apps to "Corelet" only.
7. restart your phone again, the first installed corelet (MV) will be loaded first. When you press shortcut "Start Corelet", MV will start. To start the second corelet (iTunes), unload the existing one (MV) by pressing Menu->MediaViewer->Unload, wait for a while. press shortcut "Load iTunes", wait for a while again, then press "Start Corelet" to start the second corelet (iTunes). To unload iTunes, press "0" in iTunes screen to unload it. After that you can press shortcut "Load MV" following by "Start Corelet" to start MV.
The MediaViewer has following features:
1. Bluetooth file transfer
2. Text Reader
3. Flip sounds
4. Open images bigger than 640x480
To use the flip sounds feature, put the sound files (CaseClose.mp3 & CaseOpen.mp3) into c:\mobile\audio.
(I am working on adding "unload" feature in YuetMod iTunes.)

hi yuet i'm some what of a noob when it comes to this stuff. sorry to such a pain & ask a dumb qustion , but i'm unclear as to what a Midlet is? my understanding is it'a java app, for exsample a game. if my understanding is correct then since i have mp 1.8 installed a ready then i can just use MotoMidMan to install MV and iTunes or should i just install MV? one other problem i'm having is when i start MotoMidMan it says unsupported platfrom can't continue. i'm useing v0.10.

eli, no worry. it is ok to ask any questions here. Midlet is small java (or J2ME) programs run on MIDP platform. MIDP is a platform for small devices like cell phone to run java applications/games. Do you know Applet or Servlet? They are similar. They are all the names created by SUN of Java.
in v1.8, iTunes is installed, but that version cannot unload itself. Yes, you can use motomidman to install. just follow the steps and play with it. Try download the version of motomidman I am using (You can download it at this post.) or get the latest one.

just a little prob.. when my phone starts, iTunes pops up instead of iShell.. so i dont have access to the unload menu. right now, ive kept mediaviewer as startup corelet and when i want to use iTunes, i unload MV and load iTunes.. but if i want MV again, i gotta restart the phone =).. ne idea why iShell's not comin on my phone?
flea, does your version of iTunes come with iShell? in iTunes, you can press * or # (can't remember which one) to start the iShell menu. try it.
Yuet.. So sorry to tell you that I've tried and followed all your steps.. but I can't run any of the 2 corelets.I enter it from shortcut, but nothing happened.. When I changed them to Midlet, I run MediaViewer, it says that the file corrupt. and when I run Itunes, same thing..corrupt.
first of all, does your firmware support iTunes? If you have a branded firmware, most likely it doesn't.

I don't know.. but I got the itunes pre-installed when I bought the phone 3 days ago..Yuetmod1.3.. and the pre-installed itunes works fine.. but for the itunes u uploaded, can't get it to work for me
if your phone has Yuetmod, you should be able to run iTunes. flea can get it works, why can't you?
one more thing, if you have the pre-installed iTunes, you need to remove or replace it.
I've tried that.. removed the pre-installed and install the one in filecloud..
one more thing.. what about the MediaViewer? I can't get it to run too.. after installed, I tried to run the app but "Application Error" appeared.
one more thing.. when I first installed mediaviewer via motomidman, it automatically set to corelet..just leave it like that?
Yuet, i've solved the problem.. the app that runs first is mediaviewer.. after that, I unload it and run itunes. Why is the itunes does not have DBCreator? how am I going to update songs list? and one more thing.. how to unload? I pressed exit and now I can't open mediaviewer or itunes..-_-
in iTunes, press * (or #? not sure which one) should open the iShell menu, where you can unload. These apps are not created by me, and they are provided as they are, so don't ask me why some features are not there.
sorry about that.. well.. till now I still can't get it to work.. I tried to removed those 2 app.. and reinstall..and now same thing again.. I can't open/run any of those 2... when I set it to midlet..and when I run it, it says application error..that's normal right? when set it to corelet, I should just tick Corelet right? untick background right?
sigh.. anyway,
I removed both applications, and install just the Itunes.. after setting the shortcut, I set it back to corelet..after restart, the Itunes running.. there's no such thing as * or #.. I pressed any of those 2 but nothing happened.. I pressed EXIT.. after that, I can't open back itunes..arggh

I installed MediaViewer (i am not using your mp) and i tried the flip sounds and they work.The bluetooth file transfer is what exactly?An how can i test the text reader option?In the Games & Apps menu i can't see the MediaViewer.Is that normal?And if i get this straight a corelet application starts when you turn on the phone.Does this mean that the phone works slower because MediaViewer takes up memory space?How can i shut it down if i want to?

rey, I am also not sure about all the features of MV, so you have to try them out yourself. Corelet won't be shown in games/apps, it is normal. yes, it will auto-start and might make the phone slower. If I am not wrong, MV has "Unload" function for you to stop it.

tried alot of ways... now in my phone.. I got only Itunes installed.. whenever I want to start itunes, I have to restart my phone and the itunes autostart.. when I EXIT itunes, I will never get to get back to itunes.. I will have to restart my phone again..-_-.. and why there is not settings for this itunes? the pre-installed itunes in yuetmod have settings where u can set autostart on or off.. one more thing, what is iShell? when I press *(# is nothing), the itunes hides to the background.. no such thing as iShell.. i'm getting extra confused..>.<
But if i can't access MV from the games and apps where can i find this "unload" function?Is there a way i can make it visible in the games and apps?
Hey Yuet, I've tryed to install MediaViewer on my V3r, but when I start the phone, it gives me back an "Application error". So, does that jar works on a V3r nobrand ?

i follow ur instruction to install. but when u said turn the java to Background only. i failed, it show midlet and background too.. is this stil can continue? i just continue and it fail to work and keep saying file corrupt.. i want to ask my phone is using yuet mod2.0, so wil it affect the installation?

rey, you need to create the shortcut to start MV. Corelet will not display in games/apps.
baby, not sure about V3r. is your firmware support corelet? have you tried to install iTunes before?
nicholasi, it won't work with 2.0 as the firmware has limitation of granting java permissions.
But..why is the itunes that uploaded in mv+itunes.zip doesn't include iShell? then how am I going to unload it?
urggh.yuet.. that's placing shortcut for itunes.. I tried too.. same thing.. no further improvement by now..-_-.. anyway.. bought L7 as my secondary phone.. and I'll try the dual corelet..if it's working, than my V360 is the one making problems
in iTunes, try the key *, # or 0 to see if you get the iShell menu.
Sorry guys, if there's any mistake in the steps. I haven't really had chance to verify it myself as my V360 is not with me now.

Finaly i had full working dual corelet, but it's a little tedious.
And this is Bullfrog's valleo version of itunes (it is a modified version, and had the ishell plugin too) with 0 unloads, with * minimizes, and with # ishell opens.

Hi Yuet! Hey i`ve been having some probs with this update.......Iget itunes started but i have neever been able to get media view started...... who doi mix it? i have instaled both as corelets with motomidman, qhen phone is on i tunes starts....have tried * 0 # nd nothing happens-...Thanks!
maybe you can try another version of iTunes that is with ishell. I will upload if I find it.

I installed MediaViewer in my v360 and I tried the flip sounds and they doesn't work.
I upload the CaseClose and CaseOpen files in c\mobile\audio and in a\mobile\audio too but doesn't work.
I check the plugins list in MV and doesn`t appears the CaseOpenClose plugin.
I want to ask, my phone is using your MP 2.2, so will it affect the installation?
Before I installed your MP, I have installed MV and iTunes too, and its working great.

juan, make sure your version of MV comes with the plugin. If you can run MV in v2.2, it should not be the problem of v2.2. Please note that if iTunes is installed first, it will be loaded after rebooting, you have to start MV manually.

I CHECK THE PLUGINS LIST IN MV BEFORE THAT I INSTALL IT AND THE CASEOPENCLOSE PLUGIN APPEARS IN THE PLUGINS LIST. I FLASH MY PHONE WITH OTHER MP AND WORK, WITH THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE THAT CAME WITH THE PHONE AND WORK, I INSTALLED MV WITH THE SAME FILES THAT NO WORK WITH YOUR MP 2.2 AND WORK THE FLIP SOUNDS. WHAT WILL BE?
ANY WAY, CAN YOU POST ONE VERSION OF YOUR MP WITH BOTH CORELETS. THANKS

karani you need to make any shortcut to anything you want like audio or pictures. after that you need to upload the seem posted above(0002_0001 seem go here for guide: http://yuetblog.blogspot.com/2006/07/seem-edit-guide.html).
After that follow the rest of the guide and everything should be fine.

i've created shortcut menu+1 for multimedia & menu+2 for setting.then i uploaded tht seem thru p2k.but still it doesnt work. & another strange thing is tht as i told u i've installed both MV & iTunes,its just tht nothing is happening when i clik their shortcut(menu+4=MV,menu+5=iTunes). but since i have installed these 2 (as corelet & signed) whenever i restart my phone,message appears:
"this application is out of date.verify time & date settings in initial setup."

i say=i read ur guide but i'm confused abt it.firstly ur guide says both jad & jar shud be in 1 folder.but when i hit install--jad (recommended) only jad files show up.not jar files.similarly if i do install jar,jad files dont show up. is it normal?? going by logic & common sense i think it is normal but still i wanna confirm as i'm a noob in this matter. secondly,the 7th point in ur guide reads this.....

i'm in a big mess now.i opened p2k & tried deleting some stuff.now i think by mistake i deletd some important stuff.my phone is not showing a lot of items.i cant access messaages menu,nor phonebook menu,nor even shortcuts menu.even when i turn on my phone,screen shows hello moto but the sound is missing.pls help me guys.can u tell me how can i recover deleted files from p2k?? none of the deleted files r in recycle bin.pls help.pls e-mail me solution.thanks.
try master reset/master clear to see if it helps. If not, and you don't have any backup, you need to flash your phone with a MP.
hey i flashed my phone with R4513_G_08.B7.DRC_RB_09.02BL.shx & its working now.my friend said iTunes or mediaviewer will startup but none of them is thr.now wht??

dont know.i asked my friend & he gave me link to download.later when i flashed it,he said this was a stock while & i had to flash again.this time he told me to flash with smiley mod.i got tht from mobile junkies.now my mobile is cool but i have only itunes.i wanted mv also.in itunes thr is option mv but only a/ b/ c/ which means i cant send games thru bluetooth & stuff.i needed tht mv.another prob is tht my fone mem was 6mb but now it is 2mb.from tht 2mb,it shows 1mb is already used & only 1mb is free.when i try to install mv,it uses abt 700kb leaving me with only 300kb fone mem & thus making my fone damn slow.this means although my phone has now become cool,it has lost a hell lot of memory & made itself slow.any way of increasing fone memory?? will installing mv on memcard work?? cant do it in phone coz space prob....
you can delete some useless files to get more space, such as skin, picture, ringtones.
