v1.8 is a full-flash MP, so you can flash it directly. Download the 2 rar files, put them in the same folder, then decompress the first one. The unrar program will combine the 2 parts and produce the SHX flash file.

For L7 users, you may want to fallback to the original key mapping. You can write this 005B-0001 seem file into your phone to get back the original key mapping. (This seem file works for V360 as well.)

I just have one question about the new IM profiles for Yahoo, ICQ and AOL. With version 1.7 one could reach a menu, I think under Offline Settings, where one could input such details as IM servor, IM Port, Post URL, and Secure Login. With V1.8 I cnnot find how to input these settings. Are these profiles pre-set to an American carrier?
How can one go about changing the above settings so that it is possible to connect? I had figured out how to connect to Yahoo before with V1.7, but I sure do not know how to change the settings with this version.

very frankly I am not sure about this, as I am not a mobile IM user. You can try to remove files (aol_brand.cfg, icq_brand.cfg & yahoo_brand.cfg in /a/mobile/wvim/ ) from your phone, then it should work as v1.7 did.

I am not sure what to do with the .rar files. Do I combine them, and if so how? My computer is telling me that the files that I downloaded, part 1 and 2 are the same file, even though the .rar says they are different. Please help!

Phone failed initial security verifcation checks. HAV error 0x8D

I checked the cfg files for wvim folder, and the settings are only for t-mobile users in the US. As these files do not provide a user interface that allows changing information, they are useless to anyone who is not a t-mobile user.
So, for others Yuet is quite right that the solution now is goind back to original V1.7 vwim files without the configuration files for Yahoo, AOL, and ICQ. This allows a user to input the settings for an IM profile.
I suppose someone more versed in editing cfg files could find a solution to using those profiles, but allwing for user input on server information. That is beyond my capability.

I tried to download the L7 version of MP1.8 PART 2 seems to have a problem..
with the download file, maybe I am doing something wrong, if you could look at the file. part1 decompresses properly. when i decrompress part2 i get an error, and it only shows the text file.
By the way your MP is great, it really freed up a lot of the 'inbuilt' limitations on the phone.

Thank you very much for your monster pack Yuet! I used the v1.8 on my german branded t-mobile L7 SLVR (S/W DAR_RB) and it works perfect.
The Java runs a bir faster than before, i suppose i've got the newer version now.
If you ask me about the greatest minuses of this mobile phone, these would be:
1. slow java (newer games run crappy).
2. no full screen photo viewer, no professional zoom/pan. impossible to read photos larger than 640x480 (wtf is that suppose to mean? my C65 read 1.3 Mpix photo perfectly well).
3. no built-in file manager. i'd like to feel that my mobile is a little PDA, but hell no, LIMITS LIMITS LIMITS! i can't send a java game by bluetooth or IrDA (there is no lol) which i could do on my good old siemens c65.
If these three things would be available, then i would be satisfied, but now i just feel that maybe i should've bought some other mobile, like the CX75 for example.
oh, and although i used the v1.8 i can still charge my mobile via USB, when connected to computer. So what is this all about in this v3.x specs?
for those who cannot extract the file properly: the archive is divided into two parts, but instead of naming it rar,r00,r01, they are by newer method named part1.rar and so on. so to extract the file correctly, just right click the part1.rar and select "extract here". the program will automatically extract the 2nd part of the file from the second archive, provided that you place both files IN THE SAME DIRECTORY. then use RSD LITE 3.0 from letsmoto.com on the extracted .shx file.

Ludovic, you said "key light dont work properly". can you give more details. I can't test it as I don't have a L7.
sn4g, mma_ucp has nothing to do with icons. To change icons, you can flash to other DRM pack and upload those Skins with full set of icons. To access itunes quickly, you can set smartkey to launch shortcuts, then put itunes as #1 in shortcuts. then you can open itunes by press the smartkey twice.
Joshua, 1.8 is a full flash MP, so you can just flash it directly.
chchyong89, I don't prefer to answer questions by email to individual. I think you can try my YuetMod MP v1.8. You can find the "How to flash" guide in my Blog. just follow it.
Kostas, put the 2 files in same folder, then decompress the first file. winrar will combine the 2 files and product one SHX file. there's no need to decompress the 2nd file.
kolofsson, 1. I think it is related to the hardware. 2. this should be able to achieve by java app. I plan to write one. 3. use the java app "phone manager".
in v3.x, you have an option in initual setup to turn the charging on/off. and thanks for answering the question. :)

1. Java - yes i know it is the hardware, but i wonder why is it so weak? that's a big disappointment
2. and 3. Yes i know about all these java apps, i even had a CORElet Media Viewer to substitute the iTunes, a powerful app. But you see, it needs time to load, and it is not possible to send files to another mobile via Bluetooth using these apps. i'd really prefer it as a part of the firmware.
PS. These File Sharing servers really suck, if you wish to distibute your releases more easily, i can place them on my 10Mbit server. I'd be glad to help anyone who is sacrificing his time to make my L7 a better device :D.

eddy, it should be the fault of the usb port. please try to flash using another usb port or even another PC.

And some fresh feedback. My phone works a little weird when i speak. The sound in the speaker is like i heard myself speaking (like a link voice-mic-speaker-ear). moreover it beeps sometimes during the conversation. And the LEFT SOFT KEY is flipped with the RIGHT SOFT KEY so when i was writing my message i accidentally pressed DELETE instead of SEND. And i cannot find a menu where i can remap my UP DOWN LEF RIGHT LSK RSK SMART key shortcuts.

Yuet, is there such a program or utility for the V360 which enables you to view your pictures as a slideshow (in full screen mode 176 X 220) and not like the standard picture viewer which greatly shrinks the image.

I put about 900 mp3's in the flash card (it's an audio book), and then I use itunes DB creator to create the database. It hangs around 73%. If I remove some of the mp3s (total down to 489), then the DB creator runs fine. The mp3 names are uniform, such as xxxx_01.mp3. Is there a way I can generate the database with about 900 mp3's (on a PC or the V360 are both OK for me)?

kolofsson, is the link a L7 version of v1.8? you can swap the softkeys by a seem edit. read my seem handbook please. Please try to use the original L7 gain_table to see if the sound/voice improves. For the beep, check the in-call setup if any reminder beep is set.

hi yuet! sorry but i hev another prob. i downloaded ur MP 1.8, extracted it nd flashed it 2 my L7. aftr te flashin was over it said rebootin phone. so te phone switched off. but neve came on again. then in rsd lite it displayed ''please switch on te fone manually''. tat was not happenin. so switched te phone on in flash mode nd then rsd lite said 'pass'. but te phone doesn switch on normally. i am usin rsd lite 2.7. also, got my memory card covered on warranty nd wl get a new card on friday.

Srikanth, how is your phone now? do u mean it only goes into the flash mode? if yes, try flash it again, using another usb port. of course, make sure the battery is fully charged before flashing. glad that you can get the card replaced.

Hi. sorry 4 askin stupid things,, i'm new to Modding an stuff.this is ma first Moto (V360). i'm not sure if i hav configured da keys properly or it's something else, i tried but cant get iTunes 2 start wit da smart key while da flip is closed.. Is there any file i can download and copy 2 phone to get it working ?.. and can u tel me if there's anything that can do to make iTap work like in a Nokia, coz it's much easier 2 type messages in Nok. i mean da key layout ,( * = select different words, 0 = space, # = entry mode). i actually tried reflashin te MP 3 or 4 times nd tried it on all 8 usb ports on my PC. but te result is same. te phone wl get switched on only in flash mode. but as soon as i switch te fone on in flash mode after te flashin rsdlite says PASS. but when i try to switch on normally, te key pad light comes on and then goes off in 2 or 3 seconds. but te display doesn come up to te 'hellomoto' thingy. as i had backed up my original ABR firmware before flashin 1.7, i had converted tat to .shx and flashed that to the fone and the fone is working. also is there a way to properly install itunes in an L7 with the original moto firmware? if yes please tell me how as my friend wants itunes in his L7 but is scared to flash ur firmware thinking of negative eventualities. thank you!

shanil, you can only start itunes when flip is open. For iTap, I don't know how to change, unless you want to remap the keys for #, * and 0.
Srikanth, then it is not problem of usb port. sometimes people have problem flash from one firmware to another. you may want to try to flash to a stock motorola L7 MP first, then flash v1.8 again. BTW, after you flashed to v1.8, what's the version shown in the flash mode screen?
not all firmware supports iTunes. you can try to follow my another post about installing itunes to install it.
aj, 640x480 could be a hardware constraint. the seem for sms report is not found yet.
i flashed te stock MP in my phone nd tat works. i then flashed yuetmod1.7 nd that worked too. but then i put in 1.8 nd it didn com. R4513_G_08.B7.E0R_RB is what is displayed as software version in flash mode.
tere is one mistake i did. i had put it on rsdlite to flash in 1.8 nd went 2 watch tv until it got over. but 4got abt it. so te battery run out nd as usual its not startin up normally with 1.8 nd in flash mode it says ''low battery...cannot program''. any idea what i can do?

Srikanth, now I am not sure why you can't flash to v1.8. It seems to me that you have never flash the R4513_G_08.B7.ABR full flash file (in step 1 of this post.) Have you flashed this ABR file? Please flash it first if you have not done it.

I tried to flash a new DRM, but i think i plugged my V360 on the wrong USB port. When it started to flash, the screen turned white. Now the phone won't even power on. when conneted to RSD, the status says"incompatible superfile for subscriber unit state (0x430703A)"

lunaillij, sounds like you bricked your phone very bad. to my best knowledge, you won't be able to flash to any MP in the state. you need to testpoint the phone and try to repair the pds. It is reported that "p2k easy tool 3.9 cracked" can repair pds for v360. you may want to try it.
sn4g, check message menu->inbox setup->mms message setup->server info. you have to select your own websession.

Everytime i try to send a file by images menu, or sounds menu (e.g.: Menu > Images > Image Name > Send in Message) i got this message "Cannot send file. Send restricted".
I'm using Yuet MP 1.8; Before, even if i tried to attach a file while editing a message, i was geting the same msg. Now i've edited MMS stuff, set up my websession, and selected the "Unsrestrited Mode" (Messages > Inbox Setup > MMS Setup > Composing > Creation Mode > "Unrestricted"), and now i get this message if i try to send a image by images menu. if i try to attach the same image on a message, everything goes ok.
What can it be? how to fiz now, yuet?
Srikanth, It seems to me this E0R firmware is another sticky one, just like AER. You have to flash back to E0R or stay with v1.7d. You can't get iTunes working if E0R doesn't support it.
for bluetooth, you have to set up bluetooth device again.
For problem sending a file by images menu, I am not sure why it is like that.

K, here is the bad news. when u 1st play an artist track, it display out the album art. but when u play other artist track..it wont change the album art. It stay 4ever the previous album art. Maybe someone can try it. Here is the link i got,

Oh, This is how i did. Maybe some of u guys do the other way.
- dload the MediaMonkey & Install it
- dload this plugin:

- Paste the plugin into the mediamonkey directory of Plugins
- Launch the MediaMonkey
- 1st u must clear all ur songs in ur phone
- Plug in to pc & it will detect it
- Add songs & will auto copy (wont play mp3 above 192kbs)
- then safety remove it.
- Wa La. Done! Try it...if u wana.

----Change to Memory, Not Data/Fax.
i actually tried installin itunes on my phone a month back or somthin nd it did work. was then with the original L7 MP. but itunes was not displayed in my shortcuts. thn saw ur 0002-0001 seem guide nd in the process of uploading tat seem made a mistake nd screwd te 0032-0001 seem. then got it corrected nd aftr that itunes has neve worked in my fone. also, as you kno i had claimed warranty for my sd card but hev not yet received te replacement piece as te service centre out of stock. so don hev a memory card. can that be a reason?

Yuet, Thanks a lot for a great mod! I installed v1.8 a couple days ago and it works great on my European unlocked L7. The one question I do have is that after locking my keys, the only way to have the screen display is to unlock it again. Before I used your mod, I could hit any key and the screen would come on for about 2 seconds to tell me the keypad was locked. However, I would use this opportunity to check the time. Now I'm unable to see what time it is unless I unlock the keypad. Any ideas on getting around this?
Srinkanth, is E0R your original firmware, in which you successfully installed itunes? memory card shouldn't matter in this case.
Jamal, I don't know the solution for the keylock behaviour yet. try uncheck this bit - seem 0032-0001 offset 29 bit 1: Lock Keypad (1 on, 0 off)
when u go to multimedia nd then sounds nd then play a song, it plays but does not go to the next song aftr finishin playin 1 song. is it possible 2 make it go 2 te next song by itself?

Srikanth, you can create playlist in the sound menu. when you play the playlist, it will loop through all songs in the list. don't try v3i MP on you L7. most likely you wil brick your phone. I have no other idea to flash from E0R to ABR/ACR. It seems E0R modified the PDS, and the pds is not modifiable.
bseos, no way to download the bootloader at the moment, also no way to change the hellomoto image. for the image viewer, I don't know anyone is better than phone manager.

Hi, trying to upload this MP, I had a problem (my cmputer rebooted) and I had the thing broken. When trying to upload a new flash, I get no problems, but nothing happends. The rsd, gives me that I have an incompatible bootloader (0x300). I gess is because the bootloader got corrupted. Do you know how can I upload a new bootloader or fix the problem ?

ale, sorry that such thing happened. what's the state of your phone now? can you still get into the bootloader screen? if yes, what's shown in the screen? if not, can the phone recognised by computer? how was it recognised - "flash neptune" or "blank neptune"?
If you can get into bootloader, try flash the MP again, using another usb port or even another computer.

2. autostart can be disable in the iTunes setting. press Menu and select setting.

i followed your guide on how to edit seem .. i downloaded the seem that you've provided ..
after installing the seem, i restarted the phone for things to take effect. the keys' function were still the same as that when i installed your MP ..
please try to upload the seem again. make sure it is 005B-0001.

please try to lower the earpiece gain level by changing the gaintable using p2ktools.

I got my L7 in china for use in US, but could never get MMM to work, until I saw your reply about the other number to add to the mode2 line of the ini ("R44419", since it was technically a ChinaMobile phone). And in playing with MMM, I managed to corrupt all my java apps (oops), incl. DAP (& I didn't have iTunes). But after flashing my phone with your MP1.8, I'm golden. Your limitless iTunes w/DB creator is great, esp since DAP could only load about 20% of my MP3's ID3 tags.
Also, it is truly amazing how helpful and patient you are in replying to readers' questions. You are unbelievably generous with your time and effort, and I (we) really appreciate it.

KraZy KiD, I thought I had time to do it yesterday, but I didn't. Now the earliest I can do it is Monday. I don't have a windows pc now. If your phone is already locked to your network provider, you can try out those AER backups from other people. I saw one in howard forum.

The .cfg are actually just regular text files so you can open them up in Notepad and edit them.

i reflash it back again to ACR ur 1.8 mp. when in RSD lite done flashing, Phone reboot. it should okie, but when it done, White screen appear and then black screen off, then white screen on and again. I press * # n power on, to plug to RSD Lite, it wont connect tis time.it still say Ok to Program Cnnect USB Data Cable. (i oledi connect).
Whats wrong?.. can fix it? i reflash 5 times.

Great work. I was about ready to throw my v360 out the window.
Couple of quick questions:
1) I don't seem to have the ability to choose where I want to save the java apps anymore, they all get saved to the tf card. I do remember being able to do this before, because I remember silently cursing when I had saved it to the wrong location. :)
2) I'm trying to get gcalsync to work, but it requires special permissions (User Data Read/User Data Write). I've noticed that most permissions when I install are only for network. Without using MotoModMin, is there any way to get it installed with the right permissions? Editing the *.pat file gives me "Application is out of date." error.
sf, 1. you are right, I also notice that behaviour. Not sure how to fix it yet. A simple workaround is just unplug your tf card before installing java apps. As the card is hot-swap, so I guess it is still acceptable.
2. you should be able to edit the pat file. have you read this post?

I have a Motorola Razr V3i i-Tunes.
Had tried to update and got an error message with:
Code Corrupt
Battery Low
Cannot Program
This stops you from being able to charge your battery.
What to do:
Leave battery in phone. Screen message stays on. Allow the battery to completely discharge.
Then plug into USB cable.
This shall now charge the battery.

Use the USB cable and not the mains charger!!!

The keys are changed, so you can jump to next song when playing songs. read this post for detail.
read the last 2 paragraphs of this post and restore the origianl key map. Also read my seem edit guide if you are not sure how to upload the seem file.

neng, in "phonebook", press Menu and select "Categories". then press Menu again and select "New".
sanjana, flash to YuetMod v1.8 will give you Ringtones from TF card. You need the A-series firmware (ABR, ACR or AER) to support the ringtone from tf card feature, so you have to flash to get it.

Hi Yuet. Two weeks back i had a software upgrade for my phone and my version is R4513_G_08.B7.E0R_RB. The bad part is im not able to install itunes etc..So i thought ill flash a new s/w and i flashed R4513_G_08(openbracket)1(closebracket).B7.DCR_RB_P
Now my phone isnt switching on. But it does in bootloader mode and displays the R4513_G_08.B7.E0R_RB software. Now wat do i do? Im helpless. Could u plz help me. PLease, yuet. Thanks.

you can get some moto stock MPs from en.motofon.ru.
SAM, I believe the E0R has the same "sticky feature" as the AER. That is, you can't flash to MPs other than E0R. to make your phone working again, you have to flash to a E0R firmware. and there's a way to get rid of E0R. Read this post.

xneo, have you installed the motorola driver 2.9? Your phone is still working, right? From my experience, the problem is due to faulty usb port, but you said you had tried different port, so I am not sure about the cause now. One thing you can try is to remove & reinstall the driver.

I flash my phone completely with using another PC and my phone working right.
But today when i try to flash my phone again with my PC, the flash proccesing failed and it not complete. I know its my fault, its about USB port again.
I can flash my phone again with those PC that work before but there is a problem. the battrey is low and i dont know how i can charge my battrey with corrupt firmware on my phone. when i insert battery the phone is go on an it go to bootloader screen. i connect my charger about 2 hours to my phone but it doesnt charge and the phone said the battery is low and cant program.

xneo, I guess you changed some settings in the Engineering mode, didn't you? check "Engineering - Cell Management - Cell Change Warning - Tone" should be Off.

hi, you can't set recurrence for alarm clock. It will ring everyday at the same time if you don't disable it. When it rings, you should press Red key to stop it, such that the alarm won't be disabled. To set recurrence by picking days, you can only do it with Datebook.

Nay Ho. Your MP is great, and your blog is very useful. I have an L7, and I put your 1.x MP on it.
I have a (potential) bug to report.
When I applied the gain_Moto file to set gain level to defaults, the people I called could barely hear me. When I inspected the gain_Moto file, I noticed that the value at offset 1E1 which is for handset microphone gain is set to 00, which could explain this. I also noticed that there was at least one other person who experienced this with the gain_Moto settings. I fixed this for myself by creating a moto_MyGain file that's based on a stock L7 gain_table.bin file that I found. I set offset 1E1 to 1D. Anyways, I thought I'd let you know.

gakram, was the remote unlock successful? Did you do testpoint? Not sure why unlocking would affect the keys. have you tried to reflash the MP after unlock?

rukumi, when you decompress part 1, the rar program will combine the 2 parts and produce a shx file, if you put the 2 parts in the same folder. You don't need to decompress the part 2 seperately.
Hey Yuet, I was just curious I am a bit new to this MP stuff but I flashed 1.8 it works fine I got my websession stuff for my phone works fine. MMS doesn't seem to work, but that's ok I dont use it anyways. but when I try to text message it seems that my language is not in English for ABC1 or whatever I changed the phone language to English but do I have to edit a seem file or something?? it would be greatly appreciated for a reply because it is starting to piss me off.. Other then that everything works great!!
jared, you can set up the entry method in "entry setup". in SMS input screen, press Menu key then select "entry setup" to set up primary/secondary entry method.

Yuet please help, My brother flashed my L7(without my consent) with the v1.8 using flashbackup i dont know why he did that and when i read about how to use the flashbackups i realised that someone has to store your phone files b4 flashing but its seem he didnt do that but now the phone now open in flash mode displaying the bootloader(08.DO), SW version(R4513_G_08.B7.DCR_RB) MEM_MAP BLANK and service required. bolie, seems that the flashing using flashbackup was not successful. Please first try to flash the MP using RSDlite again. If no success, try to follow this guide or another guide to repair PDS, then flash using RSDLite again. good luck & happy new year!

MSVe drive is a software available in Nokia phones which re-directs the messages to the memory card on it's own...so you can store as many messages as you want...my L7 can only store like 85
we don't have such software for motorola. the best we can get so far is the MediaViewer, which can backup SMS to tf card.

I was using the RSD Lite 2.5 to flash to version 1.8 . After the screen saying the phone is rebooting, I'm waiting like 5 mins , and it doesn't turn on . Then I press the power On the phone, it doesn't turn on, the lights of the phone is blink and then it's turn off, the screen is always black. Then I unplugged the usb cable and do the same thing, and I try to take the battery out and put it back, the result is still the same. Is there any way to fix for this problem ?

mike, check your bootloader. if it is 08.A0, 08.D0 or 09.02, you can flash to YuetMod v.18.
Alright, well two more questions, was there a cd of software or something that is supposed to come with it, because whenever i connect my phone to my comp. it says to install the software yada yada yada, but i dont have any software to install and when it scans the internet, nothing is found, so then it doesn't work. So how do i fix this.
And secondly, how do i check my bootloader? where woudl l find that on my phone?

mike, there's no modding software come with the phone. you have to find them on the internet or ask people privately. You can find the answers to your questions in this post.
I just installed 1.8 on my V360 and love it. I do have a couple of questions.
1. Is there any way I can make the keys on the side of the phone work like they did before?
2. Is TZones not available on this MP?
ok so its all good to go, but i still cannot get my computer to recognize my phone when i plug it into the computer and my phone is on the data settting.
Although, when i plug it in when its on memory card it reads the g:removable drive.
If i understood correctly, in order to flash my phone with the MP it has to be on data.
without the connection, i cant do anything.

1. I suggest u try to get used to the new key map, which is designed for flip-close operation. If you still want to fallback to original key map, download the 005b-0001 seem file in this post, then upload this seem to your phone, following this guide.
2. Tzones icons are custome-made for t-mobile. not available in my MP, but you can set up t-mobile websession to use GPRS/MMS/WAP.

I did it to make my own midlet work - snapshot a picture (copyed from JSR_135.pdf CameraMIDLET) but I still have error: createPlayer() failed. I thougt that it was because of some restrictions in previous soft.Is it possible to take a picture from loaded application ? Please help!
kris, can u run the CameraMIDLET without modification? according to spec, V360 supports JSR135-still camera capture, so it should be able to capture photo from java app.
No, I couldn't and that's why I tried Your MP. The developer.motorola.com/docstools/technicalarticles/JSR_135.pdf file is official Motorola paper and I thought it will work. I tried MyPhoto2 midlet from Waptech with the same bad result... I have red somewhere that it is because of not signed application. What do you think?

I copy app.files to kjava folder on SD mem.card in v360 (under WinXP) and install.

yuet, I tried this way today but it still fails to createPlayer(). I tested the midlet on SUN's Wireless Toolkit and it works fine.
Have you noticed somewhere an application capturing an image on V360 ? May be it is not possible from external midlet? Thank you for now !

You've done a great job, congratulations. There are so many restrictions and limitations fixed compared to the official firmware pack.
But I found one annoying problem. Each time I try to edit Ringer ID for a phonebook entry - if I scroll up from the first melody or scroll down to near the last one, the phone hangs forever until I remove the battery. I can't choose a ringtone from the phone memory as well.
First I thought I screwed up something after I made some small changes with the seems, but after I reflashed 2 times more it came out that was not the case...
Is this known problem or there is sometihng wrong with my phone (V360) ?
Everything else seems great.
