Unlock/Repair PDS using GOT_MOTO

Unlock/Repair PDS using GOT_MOTO without Testpoint
Update on 1 March 2007: We have found a new & free way to unlock or repair pds for V360/L7. GOT_MOTO will be obsolete.

It is reported that you can use a software GOT_MOTO to unlock or repair PDS without testpointing. It is really a good news, because testpoint is very troublesome. It can be used to unlock the SIM lock and remove the sticky firmwares, such as AER/E0R. Tested successfully on V360 and L7.

How to get GOT_MOTO:
Go to got_moto website (link removed, see update). Follow the instruction "!!!For getting FREE testing account you have to send an e-mail to (address removed, see update) to get your username and pass!!!" to get a 30-day-free testing account. After you get the account, go back to the same site to login.
Unfortunately GOT_MOTO is no longer free. They will not issue free account any more. To make things worse, it is reported that they got our email addresses sold to spam ads, so be cautious! You may want to try Disassemble, testpoint & unlock/repair pds.
It is reported that kapersky lab reported a rootkit in GOT_MOTO.exe. This virus will fill zero your hard disks and reinstall windows.

Please backup your existing firmware or data before proceeding. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS.

WARNING: Caution should be given to SLVR L7 with 0A.20 bootloader or R4517 firmware. Failure on such phone was reported.

Steps to unlock SIM lock:
1. Connect your phone to computer via USB, and start GOT_MOTO.
2. Select your phone model and firmware version;
3. Tick "Easy Skip TP" checkbox, click "Unlock" tab, press "Unlock Network" then follow instructions.

Steps to repair PDS and get rid of sticky firmware:
1. Connect your phone to computer via USB, and start GOT_MOTO.
2. Click "Repair" tab, then "Set Blank Mode", then "Repair PDS" and "Remove Blank Mode";
3. Flash to a full-flash MonsterPack of your choice;
4. If there's problem, repeat step 1 = Click "Repair" tab, then "Set Blank Mode", then "Repair PDS" and "Remove Blank Mode";

What is RMI
Remote method invocation (RMI) is a feature of J2SE that enables Java objects running in one virtual machine to invoke methods of Java objects running in another virtual machine, seamlessly.

What is RMI OP
The RMI Optional Package (RMI OP) is a subset of J2SE 1.3's RMI functionality used in CDC-based profiles that incorporate the Foundation Profile, such as the Personal Basis Profile and the Personal Profile. The RMIOP cannot be used with CLDC-based profiles because they lack object serialization and other important features found only in CDC-based profiles. RMIOP supports most of the J2SE RMI functionality, including the Java Remote Method Protocol, marshalled objects, distributed garbage collection, registry-based object lookup, and network class loading, but not HTTP tunneling or the Java 1.1 stub protocol.

What is RMI Profile
The RMI Profile is a J2ME profile specification designed to support Java's Remote Method Invocation (RMI) distributed object system. Devices implementing the RMI Profile will be able to interoperate via RMI with other Java devices, including Java 2, Standard Edition. The RMI Profile is based on the Foundation Profile, which in turn is based on CDC.

What is RMS

Wireless Transaction Protocol (WTP) is WAP's transaction protocol that works between the session protocol WSP and security protocol WTLS. WTP chops data packets into lower level datagrams and concatenates received datagrams into useful data. WTP also keeps track of received and sent packets and does re-transmissions and acknowledgment sending when needed.

What is 3G
Third generation (3G) wireless networks will offer faster data transfer rates than current networks. The first generation of wireless (1G) was analog cellular. The second generation (2G) is digital cellular, featuring integrated voice and data communications. What is 3GPP
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a global collaboration between 6 partners: ARIB, CWTS, ETSI, T1, TTA, and TTC. The group aims to develop a globally accepted 3rd-generation mobile system based on GSM.

What is 802.11

What is CDPD

What is cHTML

What is i-mode
A standard used by Japanese wireless devices to access cHTML (compact HTML) Web sites and display animated GIFs and other multimedia content.

Today I accidentally came across this comment made by a guy in his own forum. It is in Portuguese. Can any of you translate it to English for me?

I tried to translate it with babelfish. If I understand the translation correctly, it seems that he made a racist comment. He said because I am Chinese, I made the sticky AER MP. I also want to clarify that my purpose of making the AER MP is to help those who bricked their phones, which originally had AER firmware. So they can flash back to AER firmware to get a working phone. The AER MP is for AER phone only. I have made it very clear in this post. I have other MPs which are not on AER. YuetMod v1.8 is ABR, v2.0 is B7R and v3.0 is 0FR. None of them is sticky.

Transfer files from computer to phone

How to Transfer files from computer to motorola p2k cell phone
I saw this question was quite frequently asked in forums, so I think I should write this post. There are a few ways you can transfer files, such as MP3 or pictures, to your phone.

transfer to memory card
If you have a Trans-flash (TF) card in your phone, you can connect your phone as a removable drive, and copy the files to the folder in the card. Before you connect your phone via usb, you need to select "Memory card" in menu "Connection - USB setting".

transfer via bluetooth
If you have bluetooth in your phone and your computer, you can set up your phone as a bluetooth device in the computer, then use bluetooth to transfer files to your phone. Don't forget to power on the bluetooth on your phone. For Mac users, I have written the following guides.

transfer via p2k software
To use P2K software, you have to first install p2k driver and the p2k software, such as P2KTools. After that, select "Data/Fax mode" in menu "Connection - USB setting", and connect your phone via USB. Your phone should be detected by p2k tools. P2KTools can browse the file system in your phone, and upload/download files to/from your computer.

WARNING: AER & E0R firmware

WARNING: sticky firmware AER & E0R
It is well known that the AER firmware (R4513_G_08.b7.AER) for V360/L7 is so-called sticky firmware. That is, you won't be able to flash to other different firmwares after you flashed to AER. A few modders have told me that E0R (R4513_G_08.b7.E0R) has the same "feature" as AER. I think I should issue this warning to all of you - Do NOT flash to AER or E0R firmware unless you have already had it on your phone. Also I suggest NOT to use the motorola firmware upgrade, because your phone may be upgraded to one of these two firmwares, or some new sticky firmware. I expect motorola will release more and more such firmwares to make it harder for modders.

Tutorial: Getting iTunes with album art on a v360

First of all, you need these things:
MediaMonkey or
MediaMonkey this is a beta build
Motorola Beta Plugin so that your v360 will be recognized by MediaMonkey
And iTunes already installed on your phone (an iTunes that can rebuild the db by it self, such as YuetMod iTunes.)

Let's begin:
1. After installing MediaMonkey copy the downloaded beta plugin to C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins ( Install Path of MediaMonkey\Plugins ) and overwrite the previous d_iPod.dll.

2. Getting album art to your songs.
Before you start to add album art to your songs copy them from your T-Flash on your HDD ( it's a lot faster to add album art when the .mp3s are on the HDD and not the T-Flash )

Now let's start MediaMonkey ( no need for the phone just now )
To add the songs you want to tag just do like this:
1. File - > Add / Rescan Tracks to the Library... - > And check only the folder ( audio ) which you have copied from the T-Flash first ( I mean the folder with the songs on the phone ) -> OK
You will be asked something related to other players I just unchecked them / it.

2. To add album art go to Title, pick a song and right click on it. Select Auto-Tag from Amazon ( easier Ctrl + L when the song is selected )
Wait for MediaMonkey to search and when it found something related to what you are looking for ( you may have to find the proper album, with cover art and the right song on it ) check the song and click Auto-Tag. In the next dialog box select Save image to tag ( if possible ) and check in the future, do not ask me and Ok, after it downloaded the cover you manually have to close the dialog box. Repeat this step until all of your songs have album art.

3. Move your songs, now with album art, back to the T-Flash.

4. Building the DB
4.1. Plug-in your phone in Memory Card Mode and look for Motorola ( drive letter ), do a right click on it and select Rebuild Device database. At this point when running iTunes from the phone any song you play will have the same album art.

4.2. Unplug your usb cable from the phone, and start iTunes and build the DB from the phone.

4.3. Plug-in your phone and repeat step 4. 1 ( Rebuild Device database from MediaMonkey )
4.4. Unplug and restart your phone and there it is: Album art!

After all this work ( looks hard it's actually not ) you will have album art in iTunes on your v360.
