 | Change boot picture part 2: replace it using splash replacer |
Tool you need:
Motorola bootscreen replacer
RandomSHX or SHXCodec
Steps:
1. use RandomSHX or SHXCodec to extract/split the MP that you want to mod;
2. Open Offset.ini in folder of motorola bootscreen replacer, to check if the your phone model and firmware are defined in the ini file;
3. if it is defined, go to next step; if not, defined it accordingly if you know the offsets for your firmware. If you don't know the offsets, follow part 1 guide to find out the offsets.
4. open Motorola Bootscreen Replacer and open the flash file (the *2.bin file or the *CG1.smg file you got in step 1);
5. select the "Choose flash type and image" according to your phone model and firmware, for example, V360 R4513...ABR;
6. click "Load from file" and select your custom bmp file that match your screen size;
7. click "Save Flash";
8. follow my "RSA patch" guide to patch RSA and recompile the MP using the new flash file.

Can you write another thread to tell how to modify CG1 to transfer java applet via bluetooth? i want to transfer not only java applets but also txt books.thanks yuet!
Hey yuet.. i made i mistake in my comment before.. sorry about that.. it was about changing the power-up and power-down tones.. and I found them in c/mobile/audio and i replaced them..
Anyways.. i was also asking something else.. and it's the custom-startup image.. i changed the animations.. but there's always the one from the bootloader.. how do i change that one?.. can i use this method you posted here?

oh. i forgot to mention i have your MP v2.2.1 .. and now i've done this method.. but everytime i wanna patch the RSA, it gives me an error saying i cant patch it..
Any suggestion?
should i decomplie the flash file from a full backup? i only did the cg1, cg7 and cg18 since i thought that would be enough.. am i wrong?.. thanks
hey yuet, well.. i tried to do the method.. but with no solution.. i got a different flash with no RSA protection.. and it worked.. (using only SHX and bootloader changer)
I dont know if there's a different protection with your MP..

sarah's angel, I have already patched RSA in my v2.2 MP. You don't need to do it again. and of course you can't do it again. :-) just replace the picture and compile shx.
hi yuet, i tried like you said but it kept giving the same error after compiling and flashing it to my phone.. then i realized your MP is for BL08.D0 (compatible with 08.A0).. but that doesnt work with the SHX when you compile it.. I tried a different flash (with only the CGs needed) for BL08.A0 and it worked without a problem..

You can use shxcodec to replace the BL with a 08.A0 BL.
Would removing rsa protection, remove a lock placed on the filesystem of the phone, (i cannot create any new directories anywhere other than c:/mobile/skins folders. I am trying to make a non my-faves phone, into a myfaves phone.) Do you think this would help, any suggestions?
rami, what do u mean by "lock placed on filesystem"? Please note that most of the p2k software won't show empty directories, you must put a file inside the directory.
i have a problem. Seems that i've done every steps in part 1 and part 2, but when i wrote the final shx it gives me critical error after "create the image" in RSD Lite. It's another mode other than corona,etc.? The HEX method i didn't understand... I understand how i'll find the hellomoto picture but how to replace it?
2nd Problem: In Yuet MP v 2.2 (maybe in others versions too) after mobile starts it's starting itunes too, and mobile responding very hard at commands(in the time that itune start). How can i erase the itunes shortcut?
3rd problem: When i insert the usb cable, or the charger, the sound style automaticaly switching to Loud profile and when i unplug this cable is switching back to my profile. Why? It's not usefull, because at my workplace i must only use the vibration style, not switching needed.
